David Held, Graham Wallas Professor of Political Science & co-director of the Centre for the Study of Global Governance, LSE.
David Held was born in 1951 in Britain where he spent most of his childhood. In the last five years, he has lectured regularly on questions of democracy, international justice and globalization to audiences in many countries. Eighteen years ago David Held co-founded Polity, which is now a major presence in social science and humanities publishing.
His main research interests include rethinking democracy at transnational and international levels and the study of globalization and global governance. Recent Publications include Globalization/Anti-Globalization.and Globalization Theory: approaches and controversies (both co-edited with Anthony McGrew), Progressive Foreign Policy: new directions for the UK (edited with David Mepham) and Global Inequality: Patterns and Explanations (edited with Ayse Kaya).
