Myanmar's Roadmap to Constitutional Government: Implications and Challenges for the International Community

Member of LSE's IR Department, Asia Research Center. Dr Haacke's main research interests focus on the security and international politics of Southeast Asia. He is the author of ASEAN's Diplomatic and Security Culture: origins, development and prospects (RoutledgeCurzon, 2002). He also recently completed research, funded by the British Academy, on China's foreign policy towards Southeast Asia. His major current collaborative research project, which is financially supported by the ESRC and part of the latter's New Security Challenges Programme, analyses how regional security cultures have mediated the responses of regional organisations to transnational challenges. Other current research interests focus on struggles for recognition in international politics, the evolution of the practice of the non-interference principle in Southeast Asia, and the politics and foreign policy of Burma/Myanmar.
