About the Talk

Cecil Chaundry will be talking about the problems that Pakistan is facing and the Human Rights issues that surround these problems, from his personal and professional wealth of experience. He serves as Executive Secretary of the All Pakistan Minorities Alliance (APMA), an organisation that brings together religious minorities in Pakistan in the face of extremism and discrimination. He founded the National Christian Action Forum and the Christian Organisation for Social Action in Pakistan (COSAP), and he works closely with the National Commission for Justice and Peace and the Human Rights Commission of Pakistan, and is on the board South Asians for Human Rights (SAHR).  He was a highly decorated war  hero in the Pakistan Airforce, but faced discrimination because of his religion. Cecil Chaudhry is a regular speaker at international conferences on issues such as the persecution of religious minorities, bonded labour, women’s rights, the rise of extremism, education (including the role of the madrasas), and India-Pakistan relations. He has been one of the leading voices in the campaign for the joint electorate system.

We are very lucky to be able to offer this talk at such an interesting point in time for Pakistan, and we will therefore allow a lot of time for questions from members at the end.

This event is free and open to all with no ticket required. Entry is on a first come, first served basis.
